I have an old HP envy 7000 700-527c desktop. While  in the process of trying to install GPU card(Radeon RX598) I noticed I couldn’t find the 8pin cable port anywhere on the motherboard. Only found 4

pin cable ports. Is it possible to install said card? I’m aware I might have to replace the PSU but regardless of that can the 8pin/4pin issue be rectified? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

@sirtan-kw,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

According to the specs, your HP ENVY Desktop - 700-527c (K5G99AA) as fitted with the Kaili2 motherboard (SSID: 2B36) is powered by a 300-watt ATX power supply.

I assume you mean you want to install an RX 590 (there is no such thing as an RX 598). This card has a 175-watt TDP and requires at least a 500-watt power supply equipped with one 8-pin PCIe power cable.

The solution is rather straightforward: upgrade your power supply with a 500-watt ATX power supply, and then you will be able to power your RX 590.

Oh okay so the 8 pin power cable originates from the power supply not the motherboard. Gotcha. Thank you very much and have a great weekend.

Do you have any recommendations on a particular ATX PSU model that would be compatible with the HP envy 7000 700-527c oem desktop?

@sirtan-kw,

You're welcome.

Yes, it is the power supply that provides the PCIe power cable(s) to power a graphics card if it needs a PCIe power cable.

Good luck with your upgrade project!

@sirtan-kw,

This is a fine and affordable 500-watt power supply (Thermaltake Smart 500W) that should fit just fine in your desktop -check its dimensions (LxWxH) for fit in your case:
