I just purchased a refurbished desktop and I want to add a dual wifi/bluetooth PCIe card.  The instructions say to insert in a PCIe x 1 slot.  I looked at a couple of diagrams but I'm still not 100% sure that I've selected the correct slot.  Then it says to connect one end of the USB cable to the USB connector on the card and the other end of the USB cable to the USB 2.0 connector on the mother board.  I have not been able to find that connector.

Each socket on the motherboard is physically different. So, it seems really difficult to plug it into a "wrong" socket.

Then it says to connect one end of the USB cable to the USB connector on the card and the other end of the USB cable to the USB 2.0 connector on the mother board.

That is weird. The PCIe connection adds the device as a component of the motherboard, and Windows should load the correct device-drivers for it.  Then, the device should communicate via WiFi to any WiFi-capable Internet router, such as a cable-modem, and communicate via Bluetooth with any nearby device (keyboard, mouse, printer, ear buds).  I don't see why it needs a USB-cable for any reason.

Insert the adapter. Start Windows. Allow Windows to load a device-driver. Try to connect to WiFi. Try to connect to a Bluetooth device. Report back, if you have an issue.
