HP HPE-180t

I have a previously installed and functioning 1tb drive, besides the boot drive. I installed a 3tb drive and the system sees it as 746gb drive. I have tried everything. The most recent bios available  is 03/05/10, installed it, no help. Tried mbr/gbt, etc no help. guessing the mobo / bios is too old. Will it handle 2tb? other advice before I abandon this otherwise good i7 system? I have to have more internal hdd space for photo and video catalogues.

Hi,

2 TB would be the limit for a fully formatted system boot drive.  Some of the early W7 releases didn't support advanced function (AF) hard drives so be careful when buying new HDs for older PCs and when using W7.

You should be able to use the 3 TB drive as a data drive.  Be sure to update the IRST drivers to the latest level.

See the below example image for using greater than 2 TB hard drive.  Other manufacturers may have similar situations and solutions.

The updated IRST drivers remedied the issue. Thanks! I had given up and placed an order for a new system. i was able to cancel the order. I'll miss that 8th gen I7, but instead I'll be able to put that money towards a new lens for the camera!
