I recently purchased a HP Z1 G6 workstation and, since it didn't come with a pre-installed Wi-Fi card, I wanted to install one. However, I have encountered a few problems along the way
1) The instructions for removing/installing the card mention a plastic shield that protects the antennas. But my card did not come with one. Is it possible to purchase this plastic shield separately?
2) Neither the card nor the computer itself seems to have provided the securing screw that secures the card to the computer, and I'm having a hard time finding a screw that is the right size. Does anyone know what size screw will fit the hole in question?
3) I'm having trouble with where to place the antennae. With my old computer the manufacturer placed these at the top of the PC case, but I placed the new antennae there and found I got really weak signal. Where is the best place, in the PC case, to place these antennae?

I had the same problem and had to use a tiny sharp pointed screw that normally screws into plastic. I have a huge set of screws from old Thinkpads and Dells and not a single one fit into the m.2 hole.
The plastic shield is used to clamp down on the two antenna connectors so they don't get pulled out accidently during assembly. I would use a hot glue gun and a drop on each cable (NOT the connector!) to prevent it from moving.
Routing the antennas is another problem. If you have a metal case very likely your signal will always be poor. You might consider buying an antenna kit on a bracket. WiFi and bluetooth combo kit about $12. Make sure the cables are long enough to reach the card. The should snap on the card but screw onto the bracket at the antenna.
