I'm trying to install a corsair commander core xt on my Edoras MoBo 84fd. It requires a USB 2.0 header, but I'm not seeing one. Is there a way to add one?

@Swampbanana,

Welcome to our HP Community Forum!

I could be way off, but doesn't your Edoras motherboard have a 9-pin "Lighting control module connector":

it does, yes. im curious if its ok to use this to plug the 9-pin female usb plug that the commander core xt requires. ive got an open sata power plug available to use, but was unsure about the led header being used for the commander core xt.

@Swampbanana,

That should work:

Thanks for your reply and help. I'm gonna go for it and keep my fingers crossed. I'm still kinda new to all the pc building.

@Swampbanana,

I dealt with a very similar (Corsair 6-Port RGB LED Fan Hub) situation as you recently with an Asus PRIME Z390-P motherboard, and it worked out fine in my case -pun intended:

So the led header works only to power the lighting. Still have to have fans plugged into mobo. I found a work around however. I've got a 9-pin mobo usb to usb-a cable on the way. Then I can have fans and rgb hooked to controller. As of now the fans will only glow white because iCue can't detect them.

So the 9-pin to usb adapter works, but it's the same as before when plugged into the LED header. ICue isnt registering the commander core xt at all. Its just acting as a way to power the lights. I think ill try the device manager to see if having it hooked to a rear usb port requires it. As of now the fans are only powered via the fan headers and RGB only glows white.

That was how I did it as well. Fan power from my Corsair Commander Core XT and lighting control for the 3-pin fans from the RGB hub.

MSI MPG X570 Gamin Pro Carbon wifi motherboard. The biggest hassle was that two of my exhaust fans are 3-wire SP120 RGB  and the remaining three are 4-wire LL120 RGB.

My Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro memory modules are also controlled by the Corsair Commander Core XT.

I use the USB port on the MOBO instead of the Corsair port.
