so i have an rx 580 and i wanted to install it on my hp prodesk 600 g2 mt, so i got a used corsair vs 550w and a 24 pin to 6 pin adapter so that i can power the motherboard with the 6 pin cable, but when i plug everything in and turn the pc on the rx 580's fans spin for like 5 seconds, and as soon as windows starts booting the fans stop. and then the windows booted into the blue recovery screen telling me to repair the system, when i removed the gpu i had to repair the C drive, so the rx 580 affected the C drive for some reason. i suspected it could be the psu so when i ran the pc with the corsair psu without the gpu it was doing some problems like randomly restarting the pc some times, but it worked for the most part.
i wasnt sure what the problem is, i went to chatgpt for info and it told me it could be the system not recognizing the gpu so thats why the fans stopped as soon as the windows started booting, or that it could be the psu not giving enough power to the gpu. im still not sure so i would like to hear the answer regarding this situation.

Welcome to our HP community forum!
An HP ProDesk 600 G2 MT can be powered by an ATX power supply, but only if you are using a compatible ATX power supply adapter, which is specced specifically for a 600 G2 platform, such as this Amazon-US purchase example:
Meaning, not all ATX power supply adapters are compatible with your PC. Also, an RX 580 requires one 8-pin PCIe power cable. You should be able to purchase a compatible ATX power supply adapter via AliExpress, such as this purchase example, and even though it doesn't specifically mention the 600 G2, it does mention a closely related desktop, the 600 G1. Also, the adapter's color wiring appears to be identical to the Amazon purchase example.
Hope this was helpful.

yesterday i tried plugging everything in and installed the drivers and it worked this time, maybe i was just getting unlucky or smth wrong happned
anyways, i have an adapter thats specified to be for hp 600 g2, and i have an 8 pin pcie cable
but the psu turns out to be faulty and the pc shuts down when under load or when the gpu consumes 80 or more watts of power, and even if its not consuming a lot of power it shuts down over time, could this be smth other than the psu?
put in mind i tried it without the gpu and it made the same problem

I am inclined to believe that your PSU may be defective. If you could try out powering your PC with another power supply, that is what I would do first.
