Hi!
Has anyone tried upgrading the CPU of an Elitedesk 800 G6 (TWR or Mini) from an Intel 10th Gen CPU to an Intel 11th Gen CPU? Been researching for a few hours but can't seem to find a definitive answer.
I wanna replace the Core i5 10500T on my 800 G6 Mini 35W to a Core i5 11500T for better iGPU performance. I can source one for cheap and can sell the i5 10500T for basically the same amount I will buy the 11500T for but wanna make sure it works before I go through the whole process. Hoping someone could verify.
Thank you so much!

Hi Jcards,
Haven't seen anyone (yet) running an i5-11500T on an EliteDesk 800 G6 platform.
The i9-10900K and i9-10900 appear to be the top processors for the 800 G6 TWR.
Link: UserBenchmark: HP EliteDesk 800 G6 Tower PC Compatible Components
The i9-10900K has a very high TDP (125 watt), but the i9-10900's TDP has a very acceptable 65 watt compared with the i5-11500T's 35 watt TDP.
And speaking of comparison, the i9-10900 beats the i5-11500T nicely: Intel Core i9-10900 vs Intel Core i5-11500T gaming benchmark (chipguider.com)
[EDIT:] You mentioned two different PCs here: you mentioned the "800 G5 Mini 35W" -I assume you meant the 800 G6 Mini 35W? -If the latter is the case, I could not find any Minis running the i5-11500T. It appears that the i9-10900T (TDP: 35 watt) is the fastest processor for the 800 G6 Mini AND is faster than the i5-11500T.

Good luck!

Hi! Thanks for your feedback.
Sorry for the typo. I did mean the 800 G6 (the 10th gen model), not the G5.
I have seen the 800 G8's that sport 11th Gen CPUs and was wondering if maybe the latest BIOS updates for the G6's has enabled 11th gen CPU support too since consumer LGA-1200 motherboards with Intel 400-series chipset will support those CPUs with a just a BIOS update.

The i5-11500T has the same socket (FCLGA1200) as the i5-10500T/i9-10900T, but one of the potentially incompatible difference(s) could be the integrated graphics (UHD Graphics 750) compared with the i5-10500T or i9-10900T (UHD Graphics 630).
Will research this more.
[EDIT:] -Even though the i5-11500T is an 11th generation processor, it has 6 Cores and 12 Threads with a max turbo speed of 3.90 GHz, whereas the i9-10900T, admittedly a 10th generation processor, but has an impressive 10 Cores and 20 Threads, with a max turbo speed of 4.60 GHz, and they both offer a low TDP at 35 watt.
Having said this, the challenge is to be able to get your hands on an i9-10900T...
These CPUs appear to be unavailable. Not even through AliExpress and other, well, more exotic sites I looked at. In other words, even though this CPU would be a desirable option in my opinion, but unless you are fortunate enough to bump into someone who actually has one and would be willing to sell it to you without you having to call your Banker, this option appears to be a dead end anyway.
(Btw, NEVER buy the "Intel Confidential" variety, not only does Intel prohibit consumer sales of "Confidential" processors, they are also lower clocked compared with the corresponding non-confidential processors.)
Kind Regards,
