HP ENVY Desktop - 750-114
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Advice on purchase of a new Intel CPU for my HP ENVY Desktop - 750-114 that is windows 11 compatible? That's the only thing that did not pass the Windows 11 test.

OS:                  Windows 10 Pro V: 19043.1237

CPU:                Intel Core i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70

Sys:                 Mem 12GB

Sys board:     2B47 1.04

Sys BIOS:        A0.12

Forgot where I saw once where it lists CPU's for the 2B47 board.

The specs of your machine is

         https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04792282

Its supports

  • TDP: Up to 65 W
  • Socket type: LGA 1151
  • Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
    Processor
    TDP
    Integrated Graphics
Intel Core i7-6700T (Skylake) 2.8 GHz Quad Core
    35 W
    Intel HD Graphics (GT2)
Intel Core i7-6700 (Skylake) 3.4 GHz Quad Core
    65 W

I believe Windows 11 requires Intel CPU from Gen 8 up therefore you can use your machine few more years with Windows 10. Microsoft may change their mind to let Windows 11 to run on older generations.

Regards.

That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!  Well, I haven't built a PC in a while. Time to start shopping for a combo motherboard.
