Slimline Desktop 260-p026
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The fan in my slimline 260-p026 is failing. I want to replace the heatsink fan unit. I found the part number 858654-001. This is not available from HP to order. I found it on 1 web site out of stock no projection on any restock. Is there an equivalent unit model number I can buy to do the replacement? The pc has an i3-6100T processor with LGA1151. I need a replacement but there doesn't seem to be anywhere to buy the hp part. Anybody know an equivalent that will fit the slimline casing and be compatible with the mounting method of the original part?

@gmanretired

You can actually replace the fan. It is mounted atop the heatsink with screws.

Fan will likely 4 pins, so it is a PWM fan.

Thank you for replying. I started out knowing I could replace the fan IF I can find one compatible with my motherboard configuration, and Intel Chipset. I am trying to find an equivalent fan and heatsink combo but all I have is the original HP part number. I need to find a replacement that will match the specs of that part number, but can't find that part number assembly on line with specifications including size but also the watts, chipset compatibility, fan speed etc.

@gmanretired,

This might help.

Unplug the power cord. Open side panel.  Hold the fan blades, and use compressed air to clean the fan.

Did you measure the fan?  Is it indeed a 4 pin PWM fan.

Did you look down into the corner holes to see the screws?

Download CPIUDHWMonitor to get the CPU fan speed.

Thank you for your reply. I had already done the compressed air cleaning of the fan and heatsink. For that matter I blew out the entire interior of the case. The fan is a 4 pin PWM fan. The square sides of the plastic fan base are 3 inches by 3 inches square. The heatsink under the fan is circular in the way the blades are set. I ran the software you had me download. It said FANS PWM then under that FANPWM|N0 then showed percentages of 40% and 39%. There was no info about a speed per se.
