Product: HP TouchSmart 320 PC
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
My computer was originally Windows 7 and was upgraded to 10. My internal disc reader/writer worked fine up until this year (2020). I've tried the uninstall, remove products, remove upper and lower entries in F12, opened the computer set-up and ran diagnostic tests (for four hours) and the computer states that there is nothing faulty with the drive. However, every disc that I put into the cradle gives me an error code that windows was unable to complete formatting the disc, which stops my ability to burn/save to a CD or DVD (R+-RW) discs. Since I am working from home, this is a VITAL piece of equipment for me to do my job. Short of buying an EXTERNAL CD/DVD Writer, I'm unable to make this part of my computer work. Please help!

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to format DVDs.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
Is the DVD drive reading DVDs?
Have you tried inserting other disc like DVD movies or mp3 disc to check if the DVD-R/RW drive is working?
Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.
Remove any disc from the drive.
In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
Double-click DVD/CD-ROM drives to expand the category.
If a CD/DVD drive is not listed in DVD/CD-ROM drives, go to CD/DVD Drive Is Not Detected (Windows 10, 😎.
If a CD/DVD name drive is listed, continue to the next step.
Right-click the drive name, and then select Uninstall device or Uninstall.
Click Uninstall or similar to confirm the uninstall.
Close all open programs, and then restart the computer. Windows automatically configures the device.
Test a disc in the drive.
If the issue persists, go to the next step.
Enable the AutoPlay setting to automatically start discs when loaded.
In Windows, search for and open Control Panel.
Click Hardware and Sound, and then click AutoPlay.
Select the Use AutoPlay for all media and devices setting.
Next to each DVD, Blu-ray, and CD type, click the drop-down menu, select Ask me every time, and then click Save.
Test a disc in the drive.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
