HP Pavilion p6270z CTO Desktop PC

Internet Adapter is not being recognized. Tested the Cat5e cable and everything works fine on two other laptops.

Certainly! The HP Pavilion p6270z CTO Desktop PC features a RJ45 Network (LAN) port on its back I/O panel1. However, it does not have built-in USB 3.0 ports. Instead, it has four USB 2.0 ports available1. If you want to connect an Ethernet cable to your desktop, you can use a USB to Ethernet adapter. Here are a few steps to guide you:

  1. Choose a Compatible Adapter: Make sure to select a USB to Ethernet adapter that is compatible with USB 2.0 ports. These adapters allow you to connect an Ethernet cable to a USB port on your computer.

  2. Plug in the Adapter: Connect the USB end of the adapter to one of the available USB 2.0 ports on your HP Pavilion p6270z desktop.

  3. Connect the Ethernet Cable: Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the RJ45 Network (LAN) port on your desktop and the other end into the Ethernet port on the adapter.

  4. Install Drivers (if needed): Some adapters may require drivers to function properly. Check the manufacturer’s instructions and install any necessary drivers.

  5. Configure Network Settings: Once connected, configure your network settings to use the Ethernet connection.

Remember that USB to Ethernet adapters are commonly used to provide a wired Ethernet connection to devices that lack built-in Ethernet ports. Enjoy your wired network connection! 🌐🔌

That is a desktop that HP no longer provides  drivers or support for.

You did not mention the installed OS or whether or not you are referring to the motherboard NIC or an installed  PCIe network adapter.

Use a USB wifi dongle that has support for the OS you have installed or install a network adapter card that also has support for the OS.

I have no idea what generation your desktop is from. It may be that only CAT4 will work with it.

My 2.0 USB to RJ45 Adaptor came in today. I installed the Adaptor and reset all the network drivers and I'm back on the internet. Everything works outstanding for this old 20 plus year old computer.
