Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

I have an Omen less than 2 years old with Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz processor. I've recently discovered that my CPU temp is over 175 while gaming. This seems too hot to me? Sometimes I'll notice glitches in the video quality. I've opened up the case and blown out any dust but that didn't really help much. Has it always been this hot? Do I need to upgrade my cpu cooling system? Thanks.

As per Intel® Core™ i7-10700F Processor, the TjMax for an Intel Core i7-10700F is 100°C. Since 175 °F is about 80 °C, this means that you should be A-OK.

 

I doubt that you would see thermal throttling at 80 °C.  My i9-9900KS (same TjMax) runs closer to 90 °C (193 °F) whilst gaming and haven't seen thermal throttling.  Yet. I am considering switching air cooling to an OMEN AIO liquid cooler.

 

Using monitoring software (HWMonitor or Core Temp), you can keep an eye on your CPU temperatures to ensure they stay within safe operating limits. If you're consistently seeing temperatures close to or approaching Tj Max, it may be worth considering better cooling solutions or reseating your CPU cooler to improve thermal performance.

Wow, it took me 3 days to successfully sign back in to this account to thank you and reply. My GeForce card is also running about 170 degrees so I wonder if that's ok and if shouldn't look into some kind of entire case cooling upgrade. What would that be? Bigger fans?
