Microsoft Windows 11

A couple of months ago I purchased an OMEN 45L PC with the following specs.

HP Omen 45 L Gaming PC (Intel Core i7-12700KF/1TB SSD/32GB RAM/GeForce RTX 3080/Windows 11)

I recently upgraded to an RTX 4070Ti GPU and would like to upgrade to an i7-13700KF CPU.

Would I be able to upgrade the CPU without hardware and/or software limitations?

@Single_2JZ,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

If your HP Omen 45L Gaming PC is something like this (OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop GT22-0465xt Bundle
PC): GetDocument.aspx (hp.com), having the Intel Z690 chipset: Intel® Z690 Chipset, a 13th gen Intel processor should work -at least as far as Microsoft is concerned.  Question is, has HP provided a (BIOS) update.

Btw, I would be careful if your Gaming PC is still under warranty, because changing out a CPU may affect your warranty coverage.

In your case, I would be inclined contacting HP: Contact Official HP® Support - United States | HP® Support to make sure any processor expense/efforts/upgrade on your part are HP supported.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

@Single_2JZ,

Looking at an older post that you replied to about this motherboard https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/12900KS-compatibility/td-p/8381... looks like it only supports 12th gen CPUs (i7-12700 and the i9-12900) That might be my only upgrade unfortunately.
