Product Number: N3G97AV
What type of M.2 interface on my machine, SSD or PCI-E? What generation of PEC-E if it is PCI-E? What's the speed limit for my SSD interface on the motherboard?
I want to add an SSD to my machine. I don't know if an SSD with PCI Express 3.0 x4 (NVMe) interface is supported by my machine?

Hi,
If the BIOS level in your PC is A0.14 or higher then a m.2 PCIe NVME SSD will work. The m.2 NVME SSD is spec'd for PCIe version 3 at x4 speeds (theoretical). Actual throughput will be limted to the internal DMI channel and the design limits of the m.2 PCIe SSD being selected.
There are many PCIe m.2 SSDs on the market. Samsung typically has the higher performing m.2 PCIe SSDs so you pay for what you get. Samsung also offers migration software but then Acronis and Paragon also offer free migration software.

Thanks for your answer. I am not currently on my machine. So, i cannot check the BIOS version right now. If I found my BIOS version is lower than A0.14. Can I update it to higher?
BTW, how do I know the limit of the internal DMI?

The highest posted BIOS update for motherboard 2B4B is level A0.38. Open up a command prompt (admin) and enter: MSINFO32
The returned results will indicate the BIOS level.
If you do update the BIOS, then update the diagnostics first and run a full set to make sure that your PC is stable.
The internal DMI link speed is specified by the Z170 chipset in your PC.
