Here is the support page for that PC.
The compatible CPU's are listed as:
AMD A12-9800 (Bristol Ridge) 3.8 GHz Quad Core | 65 W | Radeon R7 |
AMD A10-9700 (Bristol Ridge) 3.5 GHz Quad Core | 65 W (cTDP – 45 W) | Radeon R7 |
AMD A8-9600 (Bristol Ridge) 3.1 GHz Quad Core | 65 W (cTDP – 45 W) | Radeon R7 |
No Ryzen CPU's are approved. I would not expect a BIOS update will be issed to allow, either.
Interesting that an Asus retail motherboard, PRIME X370-PRO ATX AM4 does support both type CPU's
I'm not an HP employee.
