HP ENVY Desktop - 795-0137cb
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have installed the AMD Radeon RX6800 GPU into my HP Envy Desktop 795-0137cb but when I install the drive  Error 173 says that "no AMD graphics card hardware has been detected in your system". Anyone know why?

@Dpitts0007,

Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!

Your HP ENVY Desktop - 795-0137cb (5QA55AA), as fitted with a Berks motherboard (SSID: 844C) as per: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06274383 and: https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=5QA55AA, came with a 400-watt power supply with p/n: L04618-800 "Power Supply - GNRC PSU 400W SFF Entl FR", which only has a single 8-pin PCIe power cable.

An RX 6800 (TDP: 250 watt), requires two 8-pin PCIe power cables, and a minimum 600 watt power supply as per:

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-rx-6800.c3713, whereas AMD actually specifies a minimum 650 watt power supply: https://www.amd.com/en/products/graphics/amd-radeon-rx-6800.

My point is, perhaps the RX 6800 is majorly underpowered, and that would be one reason why your desktop doesn't detect it.

Kind Regards,
