HP Pavilion Power 580-104np
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm pretty sure my PSU is dying a slow death but I can't really send my computer for a long repair. I'm willing to try to change the PSU for a new one but it's not clear to me if this is a standard unit or if I need a specific HP PSU.

Clarification on this would be much appreciated.

@Kutusov,

The HP 580 series uses a standard ATX PSU, dimensions are shown below.  Your old unit has a 24 pin ATX Main, and an 8 pin ATX CPU power.  It has a cable(s) that feeds power to the SATA devices, (hard drive, and DVD drive).   Unplug the power cord, and remove the side panel. Trace the cables on by one from the PSU to their sockets.  Get familiar.

PSU mounts with 4 screws, and the pattern is defined. You can not mount it wrong.  Some chassis have a push tab latch that has to be depressed to allow the PSU to slide forward to drop away from the cabinet.  Here are examples.
