Basically I am trying to upgrade my processor to a new one on my HP Pavilion and I am unaware if it is compatible I mistakenly bought the wrong processor, the Ryzen 7 5700 G my motherboard is the HP 8643 SMVB and I'm wondering if the Ryzen 7 5700 G is compatible with the motherboard as it is not listed on the website here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06429270. If not, what is a good gaming motherboard to buy that is compatible as I am outside of the return date? Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G (8-Cores, 16-Threads, 3.80 up to 4.60 GHz) is not compatible with your HP Erica motherboard (SSID: 8643).
The best processor that would be compatible with your desktop would be an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (8-Cores, 16-Threads, 3.60 up to 4.40 GHz), which only performs about 5~6% less than the 5700G.
Yes, even though both processors are AM4 socketed with matching 65-watt TDPs, and technically should be compatible, but because you are dealing with a proprietary HP motherboard, it will only support what is approved by HP. I am not aware of a BIOS upgrade either.
Happy New Year to you and @BeemerBiker.

That CPU is used in a lot of Omen gaming systems!

I was unable to find any systems tg01-0xxx running that newer Ryzen

Possible @NonSequitur777 might know
I do not see enough of a difference to upgrade even if possible

There are omen motherboards available on eBay that could use that chip. You can also google AM4 socket motherboards and lookup CPU compatibility
