When you purchase an adapter new from HP, you also need to purchase the power cord that goes from the wall socket to the adapter.

Power cord (Black) - 3-wire conductor, 1.0m (3.2ft) long - Has straight (F) C5 connector (North America)

What I suggest you do is to go on eBay, find a used but tested and working genuine HP power adapter.

 

Those normally come with the power cord as well.

 

Search by the adapter part number.
