Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having issues with your keyboard and mouse, even after replacing the batteries. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to get them working:
1. Check the Battery Installation
- Double-check that the batteries are installed correctly. Ensure that the positive (+) and negative (-) ends are facing the correct way in both the keyboard and mouse.
- If possible, try replacing the batteries with a fresh set, just in case the new ones are faulty.
2. Power Cycle the Devices
- Turn off the keyboard and mouse, remove the batteries, and wait for about 30 seconds.
- Reinsert the batteries, turn the devices back on, and check if they start working.
3. Check the Receiver/USB Receiver
- If you're using a wireless keyboard and mouse, ensure the USB receiver is plugged into a working USB port on your computer.
- Try unplugging and replugging the USB receiver into a different port to see if that helps.
- If the receiver has a power button, try turning it off and then on again.
4. Check for Interference
- Wireless keyboards and mice can sometimes be affected by interference from other devices. Make sure there are no large metal objects or electronics (like routers, monitors, etc.) nearby that could cause interference.
- Move the keyboard and mouse closer to the receiver to see if that resolves the issue.
5. Try the Devices on Another Computer
- If possible, try connecting the keyboard and mouse to another computer or device to see if they work there.
- This will help you determine if the issue is with the keyboard/mouse itself or your computer.
6. Restart Your Computer
- Sometimes, the computer might need a restart to properly recognize the connected devices.
- Try restarting your computer and see if it detects the keyboard and mouse after reboot.
7. Re-pair the Devices
- If your keyboard and mouse are wireless and require pairing, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to pair the devices with the receiver again. Often, there’s a pairing button on the keyboard and/or mouse that you need to press in conjunction with a button on the receiver.
- Press the pairing button on the receiver (if it has one), and then press the pairing button on the keyboard and/or mouse. This should reconnect them.
I hope this helps.
