Keyboard and mouse not seting up

Hi @Mar1662,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how it must feel when your brand-new keyboard and mouse aren’t working as expected.

Could you please share the exact model of your keyboard and mouse, and whether they are wired (USB) or wireless (Bluetooth/dongle)? Also, let me know if you’re setting them up on a desktop or laptop.

Here are a few steps you can try right away:

01.Check Connections

Loose or incorrect connections often cause setup issues.

If wired, ensure USB plugs are firmly inserted into working ports

Try different USB ports on your computer

If wireless, confirm the dongle is securely connected

02.Verify Power

Wireless devices need power to function.

Check if batteries are inserted correctly

Replace with fresh batteries if unsure

For rechargeable devices, ensure they are charged

03.Confirm Device Recognition

Your computer should detect the devices automatically.

On Windows: Settings → Devices → Bluetooth & devices

Look for your keyboard and mouse in the list

If not visible, click Add device and follow prompts

04.Restart Your System

A reboot can refresh drivers and connections.

Save your work

Restart your computer

Test the keyboard and mouse again

05.Update Drivers

Outdated drivers may prevent proper setup.

Go to Device Manager → Keyboards / Mice

Right-click the device → select Update driver

Choose Search automatically for drivers

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
