Hi @Saimanikanta77,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP Pavilion laptop is experiencing an issue where the keyboard is behaving as if keys are being pressed automatically without your input. This can be caused by several factors, such as hardware malfunctions, driver issues, or software conflicts.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this problem:
1. Check for Physical Issues
- Clean the Keyboard: Dust or debris under the keys can cause them to stick or behave erratically. Turn off your laptop, unplug it, and gently clean the keyboard with compressed air.
- Inspect for Stuck Keys: Ensure no keys are physically stuck or damaged. Gently press each key to see if it moves freely.
2. Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers
- Update Drivers: Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause keyboard malfunctions. To update the drivers:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Keyboards section.
- Right-click on your keyboard device and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- Reinstall Drivers: If updating doesn’t help, try reinstalling the drivers:
- In Device Manager, right-click on your keyboard device and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the keyboard drivers.
3. Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Use the Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Select Keyboard and run the troubleshooter to detect and fix potential issues.
4. Test in Safe Mode
- Boot into Safe Mode: Sometimes software conflicts or malware can cause keyboard issues. Boot your laptop into Safe Mode to see if the problem persists:
- Press Windows + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Go to the Boot tab, check Safe boot, and click OK.
- Restart your computer, which will boot into Safe Mode.
- Test the keyboard to see if the issue persists. If not, a software conflict might be causing the problem.
5. Check for Malware
- Run a Malware Scan: Some malware can cause erratic keyboard behavior. Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or any reliable antivirus software you have installed.
6. BIOS/UEFI Settings
- Check Keyboard Settings: Some settings in the BIOS/UEFI might affect keyboard behavior. Access your BIOS/UEFI (usually by pressing F2, F10, DEL, or ESC during startup) and look for any keyboard-related settings that could be causing the issue.
7. Perform a System Restore
- Restore to a Previous Point: If the issue started recently, you could perform a System Restore to revert your laptop to a previous state where the keyboard was functioning properly:
- Press Windows + R, type rstrui, and press Enter.
- Follow the prompts to restore your system to an earlier point.
