Hey everyone, I’ve been having an issue with my Omen 40L for a while. When it goes into standby, the usual white blinking light shows up like it should, but after some time all the RGB lights on the case turn back on, almost like the PC is waking up from sleep, even though it’s still supposed to be in standby. Has anyone run into this before? I’ve tried pretty much everything I could find online, but nothing has fixed it so far.

I understand your Omen 40L is exiting standby unexpectedly, with RGB lights turning on even though the PC should remain in sleep mode. Let’s go through some steps to check what could be causing this.
Check Windows Power Settings
Go to Control Panel → Power Options → Change plan settings → Change advanced power settings.
Ensure USB selective suspend, PCI Express Link State Power Management, and Wake Timers are properly configured.
Disable Fast Startup in Control Panel → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do → Change settings that are currently unavailable → Uncheck Turn on fast startup.
Check Device Wake Settings
Open Device Manager → Network adapters / Keyboards / Mice.
Right-click each device → Properties → Power Management → Uncheck “Allow this device to wake the computer” if not needed.
Update BIOS & Drivers
Go to HP Omen support and update your BIOS, chipset drivers, and OMEN Command Center software.
Some RGB wake issues are linked to outdated firmware or driver conflicts.
Check Scheduled Tasks & Windows Updates
Scheduled tasks or Windows Update wake events can turn on the PC.
Open Command Prompt as admin and run powercfg -lastwake to see what last woke the PC.
Run powercfg /waketimers to check if any active timers could be waking the system.
Inspect OMEN Command Center / RGB Software
Sometimes the RGB software overrides sleep states to keep LEDs on.
Temporarily disable or uninstall OMEN Command Center and see if the issue persists.
Perform a Clean Boot
Boot Windows with only essential drivers and services to check if third-party software is causing the wake.
Check Event Viewer
Open Event Viewer → Windows Logs → System to see what events correspond with the PC waking up unexpectedly.
Hardware Checks
Ensure no peripherals (keyboard, mouse, USB devices) are sending accidental wake signals.
Disconnect external devices and test standby behavior.
I hope this helps.
