The left click mouse button is loose and operates intermittently,  can I repair it myself and if so how , a video would be massively appreciated

If you have to ask, I think that you will have a very-difficult time trying to do so.

 

Try searching on YouTube for a "disassembly" video for your specific model-number, for instructions.

Also, look on http://support.hp.com to see if you can find a "maintenance and service manual". Such a document is intended for a technician -- telling them what parts need to be removed, in what order.

Then, search the HP Warehouse: http://PartSurfer.HP.com to see if HP still sells the replacement parts.

The risk of breaking something else, difficulty in repairing, finding the parts ...
If it is a question of the touch-pad, maybe you will waste less time, using a small usb mouse
If not You have this manual available, it may help you
