Hi, I've been meaning to ask about this for ages.  The light at the back of my HP All-In-One Desktop computer always remains on, even after I do my shutdown at the end of the day.  What should I have my setting at on fast startup?  Thank-you.

Hi @Willow1949,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your PC!

Try these steps:

Fast Startup Settings:

  • Fast Startup is a feature in Windows that helps your computer start more quickly after shutdown. However, it might cause certain components, like LED indicators, to remain active.
  • Disable Fast Startup:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
    2. Click on Choose what the power buttons do.
    3. Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
    4. Under 'Shutdown settings', uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended).
    5. Click Save changes and restart your computer.

Check BIOS Settings:

  • Restart your computer and enter BIOS Setup (usually by pressing F10, Esc, or Delete during startup).
  • Look for any power management settings related to LEDs or power output when the system is off. Some systems have options to control behavior of energy-saving features or LED indicators.

Update BIOS and Drivers:

  • Ensure that your BIOS is up to date. Visit the HP Support website to find the latest BIOS update for your model.
  • Similarly, ensure all drivers are up to date using the HP Support Assistant.

Check for External Devices:

  • Connected peripherals or devices sometimes keep the system in a state that causes power LEDs to stay on. Try disconnecting all external devices to see if the light turns off after shutdown.

I hope this helps.
