Product: Pavilion a6000n
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

When I push the open button the light goes on but the door does not open and the tray does not appear. Do I need to replace the whole drive?  Or are there suggestions on things to try first to get it to work? 

If I have to replace, is the following compatible?   

"HP DVD±RW DL LightScribe SATA Black Optical Drive 581600-001 575781-500 DH-16AAL"

Is there a resource on how to install?

Do you know how to remove the side panel?  And front cover?

Check that the cables are plugged in. The face of the drive has an emergency pin hole eject button. Test that it has power to open the tray.

Do you ready need LightScribe ?  If not:
