HP EliteDesk 800 G8 Small Form Factor PC (27W69AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm about to install a TP-Link AC1200 Wi-Fi & Bluetooth PCIe adapter in my new desktop. It requires the short Bluetooth cable from the card to be plugged into an available internal F_USB connector.

Before I take the cover off and delve inside I'd like to know where I can locate the connector. Is it visible and accessible with the cover removed?

The users manual shows that item 10 is a USB port

you will have to disconnect the memory card reader cable in order to use it

there is a picture of the card reader cable here it appears that all 10 pins are used

you might examine the connector closely and see if all ten are used.  if only half are used it is possible to rewire and get  both in the same socket

Many thanks for the comprehensive reply. I'm most appreciative of the way knowledgeable people like you are willing to assist others.

I have that document and saw the reference to card reader but obviously didn't link the connection as USB. I don't have plans to attach a card reader so my wifi/bluetooth adapter can use that connection solely.

I'll report back once the upgrade is completed.

Here is a pic of the board in my PC, which is different to what is shown in the manual.

I have inserted the PCIe adapter in position J31 and now have the wi-fi working OK.

Now I need to locate an F_USB internal socket on the existing board. Any suggestions please?

There are none that I can see in that photo.  The specs I have read

https://www.hardware-corner.net/desktop-models/HP-EliteDesk-800-G8-SFF/

indicate the USB infernal port is behind the memory slots and not shown in the photo

Possibly the motherboard was not in production at the time the document was released

The spec shows 10 USB ports available in addition to the "card reader" option.  If no internal USB header is available then the following could be used but would require running the cable back into the case.
