Pavilion M8307C
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My PC keeps locking up after using ANY browser for more than 30-40 minutes.  The corresponding events in Windows Error Reporting indicate "hardware error" but the HP PC diagnostic utility finds zero hardware problems.  Is there a way to decipher these WER's?  This one is the latest:

Hi,

You could try onboard graphics but don't know if W10 supports Intel GMA 3100. You can research online for an answer.

Or try a different discrete graphics card.

Greetings,

Welcome back to the forum.

I am not a HP employee.

The m8307c (Link) dates back to 2007.

It shipped with a Nvidia graphics card.

I would guess you have a Nvidia driver problem.

Check Nvidia for a driver update (Link).

Checked it and I have the most recent drivers.  Any other ideas?

Thanks.  After a little more research it is clear that the GeForce 8400 GS is NOT compatible with DirectX 12.  The Microsoft update that upgraded me to DirectX 12 occurred at almost exactly the same time that I started having this problem.  I am working with Nvidia to determine a reasonably priced card to replace the 8400.  I'm not a gamer so don't need much, just need it to NOT lock up the system whenever any kind of video is playing, especially all the advertising videos that web sites are eat up with these days.
