Microsoft Windows 10 in S Mode

Hello HP Community,

Suddenly I started having the following issue, only after I decided to upgrade operating system to windows 10. Before then, everything worked fine. This prompted me to think it might hopefully be a software issue.

I'm getting the following during the hard drive test result  :

Smart check - pass
long DST - fail

error ID: M0ABWJ-80J9G4-9XPJMG-618J03

I tried looking for the error ID, but couldn't find any other way of decoding the error ID, other than asking here.

I'd like to replace the hard drive only as a last resort. Before then, I'd like to try everything I can, as I'm hoping it's a software issue. I'd appreciate advice.

Many thanks!

You're very welcome.

Here is what the HP failure code checker gives for that specific error code...Not much info at all.

FAILED

If you can't install W10 on there now, then I believe your only option will be to first replace the Hdd.

Hi:

You are missing a character from the code you posted.

It should be 24 characters long and the last string only contains 5 characters.

I will be able to run the code through the HP failure code ID checker, but I can pretty much assure you that it isn't going to report any more info that you already have.

The only suggestion I can offer before replacing the HDD would be to try reinstalling W10 and see if that works.

Back up any files you don't want to lose before proceeding, if you can still get into Windows.

Thank you for a quick response and apologies for missing out one character!

I have edited the original message.

Unfortunately, due to this problem, I'm unable to install the operating system. Hopefully there's a way to get past it.

Thank you so much for your response, Paul. You helped me narrow down my options to just one. I appreciate it.
