HP TouchSmart 520-1165xt CTO Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I currently have an HP TS 520xt All-in-One Desktop Computer. Product # B2Q23AV#ABA   Serial # 2MD23302Z1

I have 8GB  DDR3-1333MHz SODIMM (2 DIMMs).  I would like to upgrade to 16GB RAM.  Is it possible to upgrade to 16GB RAM on this All-in-One Computer?  I also read somewhere about changing a 2032 battery in the computer. Is that something that I need to do also?

According to the Crucial memory report you can install 2 x 8 GB of memory in your PC.

HP TouchSmart 520-1165xt CTO | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com

Two of these memory chips should work:

Timetec 8GB DDR3L / DDR3 1600MHz (DDR3L-1600) PC3L-12800 / PC3-12800(PC3L-12800S) Non-ECC Unbuffered...

Or two of these:

Crucial RAM 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz CL11 Laptop Memory CT102464BF160B at Amazon.com

The PC is pretty old and the CR2032 battery will last a long time (~7 years).

But if the PC is constantly plugged into A/C power, it may last several years longer.

I have PC's 15 years old and only had to change the 2032 CMOS coin cell battery once because I haven't had the PC plugged into A/C power on one of them for many years and when I went to turn it on one day, I got the 'set system time and date' message and a recommendation to replace the CMOS battery.

Since you have to open up the PC to upgrade the memory, it would not hurt to replace the battery.

Doing so will erase the date and time settings and any custom BIOS settings you may have changed, back to their defaults.

So, you would have to at a minimum, reset the time and date in the BIOS.

FYI - I purchased the 2 Timetec 8GB DDR3 Memory chips and a new 2032 battery.  I replaced the Memory Chips and the 2032 battery this morning. Put computer back together, started it up and so far everything is running perfectly and it now shows 16GB RAM.  Thank you for your input.
