Victus by HP 15L Gaming Desktop PC TG02-1000i RCTO Base Model

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU to the AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT, but I need to know how much more power I need, if any, for this upgrade - if I can have any. Or how much more I'd need to upgrade/change for this.

@TeethForRent,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

According to AMD, an RX 7700 XT (245-watt TDP) requires a minimum 700-watt power supply and requires two 8-pin PCIe power cables.  From what I gather here, you got a 500-watt power supply -please verify.

An equivalent Nvidia card is a smaller-sized (dual fan) RTX 5060 Ti 16GB (180-watt TDP) model, which can be powered by a 500-watt power supply and only requires a single 8-pin PCIe power cable and would be a better gaming card anyway -but I digress.

Yeah, that's the correct power supply. Thank you! And double thank you for the better suggestion! You said "can" . . does this mean I may have to upgrade or should I be okay with the current power supply?

@TeethForRent,

That was an affirmative statement: yes, your 500-watt power supply is sufficient to power an RTX 5060 Ti.  I would recommend one of the smaller-sized (dual fan) models, such as this Amazon purchase example: https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-WINDFORCE-Graphics-GV-N506TWF2OC-16GD/dp/B0F4NHSHSQ/ref=sr_1....

Of course, you can also choose one of the still very capable 8GB models, which sell for about $100 less than the 16GB versions.

Kind Regards,
