Good morning and happy holidays. I am looking to upgrade the PSU in my new Pavilion 590-p0066. I know there is the issue of a 6 pin connector and I just purchased the unit over the weekend. If I am unable to I will most likely return the unit as it is unopened and I want some room to grow with it. I want to get at least a 550w PSU. If anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance and I hope to hear from someone soon.

this system, like most HP low/mid range system is not designed to be expandable and some HP system (like this one) use custom power supplies it is possible to use the 400/500 watt supply from a diffrent system but this will be expensive to buy from HP and will invaladate the warranty on your system

either look at the HP omen line or the workstation line for systems that are expandable, however both lines will cost a fair bit more than the lowend system you have bought

Thank you for responding. That lines up with what I was fearing but I'm glad you confirmed it for me. I'm going to return the unit to the store today and shop around for either one that is easily upgraded or with higher specs right out of the box. Thanks again for your time and your answer.
