HP ProDesk 400 G3 Desktop Mini
Linux

Hi.  I recently purchased an HP ProDesk 400 G3 Desktop Mini PC.

When the PC is powered on, I can always hear a constant "whir".  It sounds like it's a fan or something on the hard disk that's always running.

Is this sound normal?  I don't recall any other PC that I have had make such a noticeable noise.

Thanks.

I have the same device and yes, it has a fan to cool the processor.

You can have a look at the fan on this service videos from HP: https://h20574.www2.hp.com/results.htm?SID=15287510&MEID=932EA1A8-0C3C-43DB-A19B-BF13C63A657D (select 'system fan').

I myself found the noise to be louder than I expected. The reason might be, that my old fashined Desktop-PC was located under the desk where as the new Desktop Mini-PC sits next to my keyboard.
