Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!
Your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop 690-0079 (2HL00AA) as fitted with a Lincs motherboard (SSID: 843B) can be fitted with up to 2 x 16GB of DDR4 PC4-25600, 3200 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, DIMM (UDIMM), 288-pin RAM sticks. The RAM will be down throttled to 2666 MHz as per your PC's specs.
[EDIT:] Crucial claims even up to 2 x 32GB of RAM, but almost nobody really needs this much RAM, to be honest.
For best RAM performance, use identical RAM -same brand, model, and capacity. Avoid so-called 'gaming RAM' such as Corsair and G.SKILL.
Btw, these power supplies are compatible with your desktop (helpful if you are also considering upgrading your graphics card):
310-watt power supply (p/n: L10875-800)
400-watt power supply (p/n: L04618-800)
500-watt power supply (p/n: L05757-800)
Kind Regards,

Hi NonSequitur777 :
Sorry I got things wrong with my question , I may have gotten a computer that is not suitable for my needs .
After reading your answer I realize that it is not RAM I need but the hard drive is almost full - got a red warning : having 500GB hard drive running at 475 GB or so if I am reading my data correctly . Was guided to this machine because of the processor .
