I buying an EliteDesk 800 G4 Mini and I want to use a M.2 SATA drive (not NVME). Will I be able to do that?

Hi @CEG3RD

I don't know if your PC will support SATA M.2 storage. It does support NVME M.2 drives.

Some MBs support both SATA and NVME M.2 devices, some only support NVME.

Look at "Storage" Here.

I can report the M.2 SATA drive was not seen by the bios. Long story short, after installing the i3 8100T I ordered for this barebones unit and tinkering with it all day yesterday I decided to dedicate  it as a DVR engine for my HDHomerun tuner. It's quiet, but no quiet enough to be, for me, placed in a really quiet room as planned. As the DVR engine I was able to install my 2TB mechanical drive internally for the first time. I had only been able to use it in a USB enclosure. Most of my machines consume too much power to run continuously, but this unit tucked away as the DVR engine will use much less power. The CPU itself will idle at less than a watt. I had other plans for it, but this is a pretty good outcome.
