I recently purchased a 4TB FX900 Pro, and am attempting to install it in my Omen 25L, with the 886b motherboard, using a pcie to m.2 adapter. In the bios, it succesfully detects as a 4tb ssd, but then it is nowhere to be found in windows, not in device manager or disk manager. It is as if it were not plugged in at all, except I know it is because of bios. All drivers are up to date, and I would rather not reinstall windows. How can I get windows to detect my new drive? Thanks

Greetings @Gmonster41
Welcome back to the Forum.
I have never seen Windows not detect a new storage device in Windows Disk Management when the drive is detected in the BIOS.
The drive should be listed as offline in Disk Management. You bring the drive online and then create disk volumes.
This is a new situation I have never seen in many decades of Windows computing.
Maybe the specific PCIe to M.2 adapter you purchased is creating a very unusual situation. Do you have any Device Manager errors?
I don't use PCIE to M.2 adapters.

Thanks for the reply,
I discovered I have an extra m.2 slot on my motherboard, and I installed the ssd there, and when I first turned in back on I could see it in disk manager for a second, but then it disappeared about a minute after initializing and partitioning. I reseated the drive and the same thing happened. Could this just be a bad slot on the board? I have tried almost every fix I could find, and none have worked.
Thanks for your help.

Greetings @Gmonster41
My pleasure.
I don't know, the problem NVME drive is acting flaky using both a PCIe to M.2 adapter and the MB M.2 socket.
It looks like a bad NVME drive since you are seeing erratic behavior using an adapter and a MB M.2 socket.
Have you checked the drive manufacturer's site for a firmware update? I use Samsung NVME drives. Samsung Magician provides direct access to NVME drive firmware updates.
Can you try this NVME drive in a different PC having an available MB M.2 socket?
Maybe have a local PC Tech check the drive on the Tech's test bench.
