I would like to upgrade my desktop with another hard drive but to do so I was told by HP that I would have to use the SATA port that runs the DVD drive. However, looking at the motherboard diagram it appears to have an M.2 SSD slot. How do I know what SSD's are compatible with this desktop? I am in Australia. Thanks so much!

Hi:
Below is the link to the product specs for your PC.
HP Pavilion Desktop - 570-p076a PC Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support
According to the specs, the Lubin motherboard your PC comes with does have a M.2 slot that supports NVMe SSD's.
These discussions prove that a NVMe SSD works in that motherboard.
A M.2 SATA SSD will not work.
