Product: Omen 870-224
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was looking forward to upgrading my pc to use m.2 SSD as a boot drive when I noticed that the socket is missing where you would otherwise install the ssd. I've seen a few images on here that shows how and where to perform the upgrade but I wanted to know if there's anything that I can do from here?

obviously, this model is not designed for!
the motherboard has no slot, can be taken out before this type of ssd, or for cost reasons!
You can install a classic SSD, unless a solution is possible via pci adapter.
But since it is occupied by the graphics card, I think the SSD SATa option is the easiest !!

The HP 870-224 Feb 2017 had no NVMe slot.  Back then the price was about $820

The HP 870-244 Jan 2017 had an NMVE slot.   Back then the price was about $1250

It was a specification build and marketing choice. Sorry you picked the 224.

indeed, @wb2001  the two motherboards are totally different

I was trying to assist you. When I looked at the motherboard model that is when I saw the difference.

You are correct, it is 2 different boards. I back tracked into the product numbers and chose a random (244 model).
