I cannot upgrade to Windows 11 without changing the core processer.  I've purchased an Intel SR339 i7-7700T, 4 Cor3e, 2.9 Ghz,  8MB SmartCache 35W.

My computer has 2 memory slots and shows as 12 GB memory, with 4 GB in number 1 Slot and 8 GB in Slot 2.

Since I must install the core upgrade to be able to use Windows 11, it seems to be a good time to max out the memory I can add.  Seems like I saw 1 TB somewhere, but am not sure.

How much can I add to each memory slot?

Thank you.

Bob

Hi, Bob:

Even if you install the i7-7700T processor, your PC still won't meet Microsoft's minimum W11 hardware requirement of an Intel 8th gen core or newer processor.

Windows processor requirements Windows 11 supported Intel processors | Microsoft Learn

All of the info I can find indicates that your PC can support up to 2 x 8 GB of memory, so you would have to remove the 4 GB memory chip and install an 8 GB memory chip.

This should be a compatible 8 GB memory chip for your PC:

Timetec 8GB DDR4 2666MHz (DDR4-2666) PC4-21300 ((PC4-2666V) Non-ECC Unbuffered 1.2V CL19 1Rx8 Single...

If you were wanting to install more than 16 GB of memory, you can run this command in Windows Powershell as administrator and see if the notebook will support more than 2 x 8 GB of memory:

Get-CimInstance -ClassName Win32_PhysicalMemoryArray | Select-Object MaxCapacityEx, MemoryDevices

If you are interested in doing an in-place upgrade from W10>W11 you can, but you will have to use a workaround that bypasses the W11 hardware checks.

This will work with either the i5-7400T or the i7-7700T processor installed.

Watch this video for the easiest way that I know of to do an in-place upgrade from W10>W11 25H2:
