Hello HP-Community,
5 Years ago i bought the Pavillion G5434de with the following specs: https://support.hp.com/de-de/product/HP-Pavilion-G5400-Desktop-PC-series/5080749/model/5173345
CPU: i3-2100
Mainboard: H-CUPERTINO2-H61-uA TX (Cupertino2) https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02978278
Now the problem is i bought a new CPU (i5-2500) and my mainboard is compatible with the new CPU (source: link above), but as i tried it i get a blackscreen with the "incompatible-cpu message". I recently updated my bios driver to the newest version(7.16) from the hp homepage. So what did I do wrong? Maybe i have to reset the BIOS with the battery or jumper?
I just dont understand why it does not work ...

@CPU-Dude I got the spec page for the motherboard from the first link in your post.
On that page
It states the motherboard to be a Foxconn Cupertino, not the Cupertino2 that you linked later in the post, and the limit for the CPU of TDP with 65W Max
There is a i5-2500S that meets that criteria but I cannot say if that will work, either. Best I can say is try it.
As to the comparison with a retail Foxxcon motherboard - while it may be made to a similar retail motherboard, an OEM board will not usually be able to use the retail BIOS, as the board is made to HP specs. There is mostly some different component on the finished product.
I'm not an HP employee.

In checking the links provided in the post, the CPU upgrade area of the link indicates TDP: Max 65W. In the CPU specs for the Intel® Core™ i5-2500 Processor provided here:
It states this: TDP 95 W
While that might seem to be a slight variance, that most likely is the problem. OEM motherboards are sometimes very limited in what they will accept.

I think thats the reason for it!
Well, can you give me a similar CPU-Model that works on my Mainboard (similar to i5-2500).
It has the L1155 socket-type and should be similar in the price and performance (used, i bought it for 25 euros ebay).
Furthermore in my mainboard specs it says:
Processor upgrade information
TDP: 35W up to 95W (processor dependent)
So its still in the I5-2500 tdp and I think i read about pc.setups that had my motherboard and I5-2500. I think there must be a solution...

Under "HP" my Motherboard is listed as compatible with i5-2500.
Could it be that i have to get the new bios driver from the Foxconn website?

Yes, you are right its the Cupertino 1. So I think I will sell the i5-2500 ...
I bought a Gtx 550 ti and i hope at least that works 🙂 I got a 720 watt power supply and the right 6 pin connector.

There is a lot of discussion about upgrading the graphics cards with HP OEM motherboards. Since the power supply has been upgraded that is a good first step.
The Cupertino and Cupertino2 motherboards are on the list of problems. a general rule - If the motherboard has a Legacy BIOS the upgraded graphics card must have a Legacy compliance. If the motherboard has a UEFI BIOS, then the graphics card must have a UEFI compliance. Check that aspect out before purchasing or make sure the seller has an exchange or return policy if it does not work.
Also, I was reading where the Gtx 550 ti, depending on the manufacturer, could be made to work with either type BIOS if it was flashed with a tool to make it match the BIOS type. In the first post you stated the BIOS is newest version(7.16), so that means it will not work with a UEFI BIOS card. Just make sure the Gtx 550 ti you buy will work in the Legacy BIOS motherboard, as that card could be either.
