Product: HP ProDesk 600 G2 SFF PC Core i5 6500
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Confused about RAM, I am upgrading and have Crucial PC4-21300 -2666 MHz 288-Pin UDIMM Memory: 2 x 4GB & 2 x 8GB, how should I install it in each slot for best performance?

 

DIMM4 (Channel A) DIMM4 white Memory Module
DIMM3 (Channel A) DIMM3 black Memory Module
DIMM2 (Channel B) DIMM2 white Memory Module
DIMM1 (Channel B) DIMM1 black Memory Module

Hi:

 

I would do it this way...

 

DIMM4 (Channel A) DIMM4 white 4 GB Memory Module
DIMM3 (Channel A) DIMM3 black 8 GB Memory Module
DIMM2 (Channel B) DIMM2 white 4 GB Memory Module
DIMM1 (Channel B) DIMM1 black 8 GB Memory Module

 

You can also do it this way...I don't think it will make any difference.

 

DIMM4 (Channel A) DIMM4 white 8 GB Memory Module
DIMM3 (Channel A) DIMM3 black 4 GB Memory Module
DIMM2 (Channel B) DIMM2 white 8 GB Memory Module
DIMM1 (Channel B) DIMM1 black 4 GB Memory Module

 

Do not put the same size memory next to each other in any of the slots.

 

It will work, but only in SDR mode.
