HP Compaq Pro 6300 SFF
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have the HP Compaq 6300 SFF (Windows 10 64-bit) with two memory sticks of 4GB each (1600). Try to upgrade to 16GB putting 1 stick of 8GB (1600), and the computer gives 5 beeps.  This MB does not accept this combination of sticks?

Hi:

The 8300 Elite SFF model will support 4 x 8 GB of memory.

You probably installed an incompatible chip.

I would get one from Crucial memory.  They guarantee compatibility.

Change the country flag to the EU at the top right side of the page and get the first memory chip part number listed.

With your current configuration, the 4 GB chips should be in slots 1 & 3 and you can put the 8 GB chip in slot 2.

4 GB + 8 GB + 4 GB + 0 GB

Thank you very much Paul_Tikkanen, the solution was 4+8+4+0!

You're very welcome.

You need to have the same capacity of memory in slots 1 & 3 and 2 & 4.

In other words, if you decide to buy another 8 GB chip, it goes in slot 4 that is empty.

Thank you again!!!
