Product: Pavilion 500-281
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I would like to upgrade to the maximum amount of memory on my HP Pavilion 500-281 desktop. I believe I can increase to 16GB. Do I purchase 2 8GB DIMMs or would this model accept 1 16GB DIMM?

Hi:
You are correct.
Your PC can be upgraded to 2 x 8 GB of memory for a total of 16 GB.
A 16 GB memory chip is all but guaranteed not to work.
2 x 8 GB will run better than 1 x 16 GB anyway, because 2 x 8 GB will run in the higher performing dual data rate (DDR) mode, where a single 16 GB chip will run in the lower performing single data rate (SDR) mode.
