Hi all,
Was hopping to get some guidance on memory upgrade, as I'm proper confused with the HP page specification related to my workstation.
I have this model M01-F1002np:
The mother board is a BakerMS Rev:A M11:
Now, checking the HP support pages (https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c06678632), it states 2 things that are confusing me:
- Memory support are "SODIMMS", the workstation has one 8GB UDIMM.
- Supported "PC4-21300 (DDR4-2666) and up to PC4-23400 (DDR4-2933) for Core i7-10700 and i7-10700F", however the UDIMM has the following label:
Which relates to DDR4-3200? (might be wrong here, my hardware knowledge is quite limited)
Now looking at HP, I can find 2 options:
- 3200 (https://www.hp.com/gb-en/shop/product.aspx?id=141H3AA&opt=&sel=ACC ) which seems to relate to the one I currently have, but I'm reluctant as I don't understand fully this speed stuff
- 2666 (https://www.hp.com/gb-en/shop/product.aspx?id=4VN07AA&opt=AC3&sel=ACC) which seems to relate to the HP motherboard specs, but from the page screenshot it has 9 chips so ECC??
😭CONFUSED
If I jump to Crucial, I can find a nice report for the correct model: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-m01-f1002np#
Now with this one I get even more confused, has it states it allows:
- DDR4-2666
- DDR4-3200
- and also that it supports total of 64GB??
😕 🙄 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My idea was to upgrade with 2x16GB for a total of 32GB! Was leaning towards this set: https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k16g4dfra32a/ct21119786
Any confirmation or help in picking the correct set is much appreciated.
Cheers

Hi @rpcm
You can put those Crucial memories, but the frequency that is going to work that memory is 2666. When you put a 3200 memory the memory BUS will lower the frequency to 2666 to be compatible.
You can check the frequency of your memory in the Task Manager

Great stuff,
That makes sense and very good to know.
Curiously the 2666 set is 5 quid more expensive then the 3200.
2666 : https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k16g4dfra266/ct21119838 = 150.99
3200 : https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct2k16g4dfra32a/ct21119786 = 145.99
Anyways, guess will go for the cheaper.
Cheers mate
