Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have an HP 450-103nl

I tried to upgrade my old i5 4460T with a i7 4790 (i also increased the Power supply)

With the i7 on board, if i turn on the pc on the screen appeard the HP logo but remain stuck and i can't do anything or go over (when turn on the pc i noticied that the keyboard remains functional for a small period of time, then it stops working but remains on/powered)

I tried to enter the BIOS Page (when you press ESC or F10) but there Is only a black page with  some information (RAM, storage and other thing) and i see that the motherboard see the i7

Someone can help me?

@Bianco2002,

Welcome to our HP community forum!

Your Memphis2-S motherboard (SSID: 2B2C) is compatible with an i7-4790 as per specs:

What I would do is to reinstall your old processor and see if there are BIOS updates available for your PC, such as this: HP Pavilion 500-000 Desktop PC series Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support.

Kind Regards,

I have already installed the latest BIOS version (a0.17)

@Bianco2002,

What I would do is this: remove your i7-4790 and inspect the processor slot very carefully to make sure that there are no bent contacts and/or debris stuck in the CPU slot.  Clean out with compressed ("canned') air.

Then inspect all of the bottom contact surfaces of the processor itself to make sure it is free of dirt and discolorations:

I would use a Q-tip dipped in 99.9% isopropanol cleaning solution and clean the area between the blue perimeters as shown, then use compressed ("canned") air as a finishing touch.

Apply a decent thermal paste (such as Arctic MX-4 or better) and try again.

Kind Regards,
