Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
That's quite a lot of work you are putting into that computer,
As far as I know, that model is obsolete and getting parts for such models could get rather expensive, that said, If my opinion counts, I suggest you look to get a new HP computer then resurrect this one.
Also, I looked around and I'm afraid there are no available upgrade manuals for this model, hence if you wish to go through with it, check with a local tech so he can suggest the parts and fix them up so that you know it's compatible and working before you leave his place.
Keep me posted,

Thank you for joining HP Forums.
I'll be glad to help you 🙂
As I understand you need the information of the Chassis on your PC,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Did you check the user guide/service manual or the product information of your PC? Click here or here, if you haven't.
While you check that out, the form factor of your Chassis is known as:
-
Micro-ATX: 24.4 cm (9.6 inches) x 24.4 cm (9.6 inches)
The Chassis number information is unavailable as all you would need, incase of a PSU upgrade or otherwise is mentioned above.
Here's the link to find replacement parts and their part numbers: Click here
If I have helped you resolve the issue,
feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon
followed by clicking on 'Accepted as Solution'
And Have a great day Ahead!

Hi
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
After some research, I now understand a lot more in regards to the Case and Form Factor.
I'm very new at this, what I'm trying to accomplish would be to upgrade my HP d4996t with a new or up to date mother board with an Intel i7 7th generation processor 7-7700 Processor. Now I’m trying to find a compatible Motherboard for the processor. Although this sounds quite challenging, I believe it can be done. I need to do more research to see if it will be worth the while and also cost wise.
Please, what are your thoughts or have any ideas if this will work or have a build list I can follow?
I appreciate your kind help
Thanks
KC

Let's try to put this into simpler terms. Please comment as needed.
From what I can glean on the net, your machine is circa 2007, and was originally a VIsta OS.
When you change out a motherboard, your creating a NEW computer. That gets very $$$ in parts.
Motherboard, processor, RAM, graphic card, power supply and a NEW retail WIN 10.
It's easier to purchase a new computer.

Custom Asus Z97D, I7-4790k, 16GB RAM, WIN10 Pro 64bit, ZOTAC GTX1080 AMP Extreme 3 fan 8GB RAM, 500GB SSD, Asus PB287 4k monitor, Rosewill Blackhawk case and 750W OCZ PSU.

Hi,
How about upgrading my Pavilion HPE h8-1360t processor from i7-3770 to an i7-7770K and will I need to
Upgrade the mother board also??
On my previous message, what I really wanted to do was upgrade my d4996t because the internal space of the case, a lot more room for videos cards etc. maybe it’s possible to pull the guts out of the Pavilion HPE h8-1360t and install it into the d4996t.
For the 1360t, I can deal with a new win 10, no issues, already have a 650 watt PS and I guess all I will need some memory, the i7-77700k and new compatible MB ??
What do you guys think ?
Thanks again for your kind help and support
