Mixing up LR- and R- DIMMs

Workstation HP Z840
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to expand my RAM .  Now there are 4 LRDIMM modules on the Z840 motherboard, can I add RDIMM modules ??

Says here you cannot mix those two.  Sometimes manufactures are wrong like when they say the maximum supported ram is 8gb and sure enough some idiot tries a pair of 8gb and gets 16gb to work fine.


In this case I suspect they know what they are talking about..
