No need to apologize, @MelissaAC!  My son says I have OCD so bad that I have to spell it CDO (alphabetical order). 😉

The USB External Hard Drives come with a power plug and a USB cable.  This should be all you need to connect it to your computer.

@MelissaAC , welcome to the Community.

What is the Product Number of the computer? I need this information to review the specifications of it. Please don't furnish the Serial # or other personal information. You can find the Product Number at the bottom of the page when you open HP Support Assistant.  Once I have this information I will help you further.

Thank you for the additional information, @MelissaAC!

If you are not familiar with working on computers, especially All-In_one computers, I suggest that you buy a USB 3.1, External Hard Drive.  All you have to do is connect it to the USB 3.1 port on the back of your computer.  Here is an example of what will work: https://www.newegg.com/p/3C6-00B2-00045?Description=usb%203.1%20external%20hard%20drive&cm_re=usb_3....

Yes, this is correct.  You can do anything with an External Hard Drive that you can with one inside of your computer.  I use two External hard drives and two USB thumb drives for storage.  It allows the computer to run cooler because there is more space inside of it.  Also, it allows you to connect the drive without opening the case, which can be difficult if you are not familiar with working on computers.

Awwww… I just like to make sure I get everything I need. I have already ordered it and it will be shipped on the 10th of this month. I play minecraft and the sims 4 and it just makes my computer run very slow.

Good luck, @MelissaAC!

If you have questions when you receive the drive, please let me know.
