Hi there,

My PC was working fine with 8GB RAM, but then after shipping it across to the States from the UK, I find that only one of the two memory slots is now working. I get BSODs if I use both or one of the slots. The other slot is fine. I have a stable PC that only has 4GB RAM. I get the same results if I swap the memory cards around.

I would like to upgrade or replace my M2N68-LA Narra6 motherboard so I don't have to replace Windows 7. I would also like to upgrade the Athlon II X2 to an X4 if possible.

Thing is, if I get a new PC with Windows 10, I would have to upgrade my software, Pro Tools 10, to the new PT, which greedy Avid insists on a monthly subscription. To kep costs down, I want a replacement or low upgrade.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Scot.

@ScotDP ,

Be sure to unplug the power cord during each activity listed.

1) Your issue might just be a dirty SIMM slot.  Try compressed air in the slot. (Do not shake or invert the can).  It will spew liquid.  If that works, you OK.  2) Otherwise, try the working SIMM in both slots. Unlikely, but the SIMM could be flakey / going bad.

History and age are working against you.

About Pro Tools 10.... previous versions are both WIN 7 and 10  See chart

Hi there Wb2001, I'm confused. I've had a look at the PT chart you linked me to, but I can't see Win 10 compatibility with Pro Tools 10.3.10.

@ScotDP ,
Please forgive,and re-read the chart.  There are PT versions that accept WIN 7 to WIN 10.
