Hello.

Just recently I have recieved a new EVGA NVIDIA GTX 1050 TI and a new EVGA 500W PSU for Christmas. I have installed both on my computer successfully, however when I turn on my PC I am stuck on a splash screen that looks something like this.

(Taken from another post)

I spent 1-2 hours researching to solve this problem, I updated my BIOS to 7.16, I cleared my CMOS, tried installing the drivers for the new card before putting it in, and tried pressing about every key on my keyboard during the startup process. The computer runs fine once I swap out the two cards to my old one (NVIDIA GT 530), and I've come to the conclusion through other similar forum posts that the Legacy BIOS on my motherboard (IPISB-CU (Carmel2)) is not compatible with newer GPUs like the 1050 TI. So does anyone know if there is anything else I could do before getting a new motherboard? Also, what motherboards would be compatible with my tower (I'm pretty unfamiliar with motherboards) if I were to replace my current one? Are there are good references that I could use when installing this new motherboard, especially for someone that has never done it before?

Thanks and happy holidays!

Edit: Turns out that unfortunately this card will not work on my system as my motherboard is incompatible with it. For future readers I recommend either looking into the NVIDIA 600 series (I heard the 690 still holds up pretty well) or into an AMD card, which is what I will most likely be doing (see this post). Best of luck!

@Tomufin, welcome to the forum.

I believe that your problem is caused by the video card not being compatible with the motherboard.  Newer video cards, such as the GTX 1050 Ti require UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard/Legacy BIOS.  HP didn't begin using UEFI until mid October, 2012.  Your computer was released in September, 2011.  I suggest that you contact EVGA's Tech Support to see if they have a VBIOS update that will solve your problem.  They have always been very helpful.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Do you think you could be able to provide me with the proper link to EVGA Tech support? I just want to make sure I'm going to the right place.

You are welcome, @Tomufin.

Here is the link to their Support site:  https://www.evga.com/support/

There are phone numbers to call towards the bottom of the page.  I normally use the 888-881-3842 in the Americas.  They have always been very helpful.  You might tell them that a volunteer expert on HP Forums recommended that you call them for help.
